Time Off

apologies for the rubbish iPhone pictures

february half term was a lovely time for me, although i didn't do very much i really enjoyed having lots of time to myself! valentines day, which also happened to be my four year anniversary with my boyfriend, was a part of half term. we didn't do anything special, only ordered in a huge amount of food from dominos and watched the virgin suicides! it was lovely, i was gifted a mug with an elephant on a heart on.

with not doing anything to celebrate, i wanted to find something to do which wasn't the typical 'lets go and have a meal' type of thing.
both me and nick are huge 'the walking dead' fans (when we started watching it, we got through 15 episodes in one day) so it only seemed like a good idea to go and meet david morrissey, who plays the role of the governor in the show! he was a part of a signing to raise money for a charity here in forbidden planet, liverpool. we queued from 10:30am to 2:10pm to meet him, and he was a really lovely man (not at all like the man he plays), meeting him was a wonderful experience!

so at the end of the week we went to visit the catacombs of st georges hall! these catacombs haven't been open to the public for over 160 years, and are now closed again. we were given a guided tour around the court room, catacombs and prison cells by a man who played the part of the 'hangman', everybody was in character throughout the tour, it was really entertaining, and learning a little bit about the history of liverpool was interesting too! i'd really recommend people to visit next thine they're open!

i hope you all had a lovely february half term!

Brocheré

i am a huge american horror story fan! season two has been my favourite season so far out of the series, most probably due to my fascination with mental asylums. lizzie brocheré, who plays grace in the series, soon became one of my favourite faces. her face is so fresh and unique, i couldn't pass up the opportunity to somehow slip her into my work. i'm currently working on my portfolio for this year, which contains work related to my collection (which is based on mental health and restraint). some of my garment inspiration came from the hospital gown that lizzie is seen wearing throughout the series, so i thought it best to throw together a quick illustration.
now i need to find a suitable place in my portfolio for her...

Sunday

okay, so this is my boyfriend

basically, he's really talented with a camera! the two pictures above are two that i've snapped of him in the past week, he's always photographing something.

have a look at his blogs - www.nickyseddon.blogspot.co.uk

AP

a project that i have been given consists of me acting as though i work for a company of my own choice, preferably a company that i would like to work with one day, and creating products for the company/promoting them the way that the company do through photography.
i chose agent provocateur, and through research, realised that they didn't really have many garters to offer. quick doodles shown in the scan above started off my design process, which then led to CAD designs using illustrator (which took forever to do).
i composed moodboards, drawing, and several different garter designs until i was happy with one, which i then went on to photograph.

shooting the accessories was so fun! i got a room in liverpool's hilton hotel and my friend brought so much lingerie with her! she gave me exactly what i was asking for with the shoot, and i couldn't have chosen a better model (images are blurred or blacked out because she doesn't really want them on the internet).
after everything was completed, images were edited and such, i had to design and make packaging for the accessories, but this also had to look quite agent provocateur-ish.

pillow boxes.

they were the perfect idea! i made them out of light pink card, almost identical to the brands pink, and wrapped my accessories in black tissue paper for a more profesh effect.
the final part of the project was to get started on an e-portfolio containing inspiration and snippets of work from over the past year of my degree. issuu.com is a pretty great site for creating online documents, magazines and portfolio's seem to be most popular on the website, and since i like the way the site works, i went with it! i've chosen my favourite page from my portfolio so far, containing a picture of myself wearing a choker made by me (in 5 minutes) and then edited in all different ways!

i hope whoever reads this enjoyed my ramblings on about fashion work, deadline day is tomorrow and i hate giving my work away for marking!!!
thank you for reading!

Thursday

i recently started working out again, in attempts to improve the look of my body and feel healthier (as everybody says).
i just thought i would share with you my favourite after-my-thursday-workout treat! i find that naked smoothies make the perfect treat once in a while, i have been buying myself one to enjoy after my morning workout on a thursday accompanied by a banana. the juices are wonderful, and full of flavour! but i wouldn't recommend drinking them every day, as it appears they have around as much sugar in them as mountain dew and i'd rather keep my teeth the way they are right now! green machine, mango machine and blue machine are my favourites, i tried red whilst in new york and haven't bought it since, i think there was too much cranberry in it for my liking!
anyway, TRY IT!!
